DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation unit is to produce a City Logistics Master Plan for Chengdu, China’s fourth largest city. Deutsche Post DHL’s CEO Frank Appel signed a memorandum of understanding with the mayor of Chengdu on a recent visit to the city. The plan will analyse the supply chain for fast-moving consumer goods from various sectors such as super markets, wholesale markets and franchised stores and envisages a network of urban freight centres.
DHL already works with local governments around the world together with its technical partners, which include Siemens AG, DLR, SAP and Turkcell.
