Don’t tamper with the tacho, warns VOSA

[ August 11, 2011   //   ]

The UK’s Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) and the police are issuing leaflet warning UK and foreign drivers warning of potential £5,000 fines or up to two years in jail if they use magnets to stop digital tachographs from recording time spent driving. The Road Haulage Association welcomed the campaign but warned that it needed to be backed by action to bring drivers swiftly before the courts, especially foreign drivers. Whereas UK drivers can normally be easily traced, it is tempting to take lesser action against foreign drivers because of the practicalities of getting them into court, said RHA.
