DP World promises smooth ride for Moroccan fruit and veg
[ September 4, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]DP World is launching a Morocco to UK and North Europe service for fruit and vegetable shipments that it says will cut transit time by up to two days along with a significantly reduced carbon footprint.
The new Atlas service will connect hubs at Agadir and Casablanca with DP World’s London Gateway and Antwerp Gateway, using two dedicated vessels from November.
The service is expect to move up to 150,000 tonnes of fresh produce from road to sea each year, and cutting CO2 emissions by 70% compared to trucking.
It could also avoid delays at border crossings as well as a smoother passage for delicate produce such as tomatoes and blueberries, which are prone to damage on bumpy roads.
DP World has invested in a fleet of 1,250 new reefers.
