DP World starts work on German chemicals hub
[ September 11, 2026 // Chris Lewis ]DP World has begun construction on a €50 million expansion of its chemicals logistics hub in Wolfenbüttel, Germany. It will add a purpose-built, 30,000m2 warehouse for the storage of lithium-ion batteries and a new rail terminal, transform the site into a multifunctional storage facility serving existing customers in the agricultural industry, while expanding support for automotive customers as demand for electric vehicles grows.
The rail terminal will be the first of its kind in the region for transporting hazardous goods.
The Wolfenbüttel centre is one of 19 chemicals warehouses operated by DP World in Europe, and provides next-day fulfilment across Germany. Once complete, the facility will become DP World’s flagship chemicals storage facility in Europe and join a network of lithium-ion storage sites across Germany.
