DP World to build new port for Ecuador

DP World has won a 50 year concession to develop a $1 billion greenfield multi-purpose port project at Posorja, Ecuador, 65km from the country’s main commercial city of Guayaquil. The $500 million phase 1 will include dredging a new access channel, a 20km access road and a 400 metre berth equipped for containers and other cargo. Construction is expected to start within the next six to nine months and take around 24 months to complete. Annual capacity will be 750,000teu.
