Egypt port project nears completion

[ November 20, 2019   //   ]

DP World Sokhna says it is nearing completion of its Basin 2 project that will nearly double the Egyptian port’s capability to 1.75 million teu per year. The extra capacity will be operational by the second quarter of 2020 and will make Sokhna the only port in the country capable of handling the largest container ships. Built at a cost of $520 million and complementing two operational basins, the project includes a 1.3km long quay with 400 meters in Phase 1, and a 350,000sq m container yard.
