Ekol opens Yalova port

Turkish logistics company Ekol has opened a ro ro terminal at Yalova, south-east of Istanbul, with the first sailing operated by Alternative Transport’s Qezban to Trieste, Italy on 4 October.

The 80,000sq m facility has space for 500 trailers two ro ro ramps, X-ray facilities, customs office, driver areas and a short-term storage area of 16,000sq m and an ADR warehouse.

It also has a lab for testing carcinogenic materials, paving the way for exporting textile and leather products, shoes, stationary and toys.

Ekol says that the terminal will keep more than 100,000 trailers off local roads as trucks will no longer need to access Haydarpaşa port.
