Ellerman to offer Baltic link
[ January 16, 2026 // Chris Lewis ]Ellerman City Liners, part of the GB Global group that also includes Uniserve, is to launch a short-sea shipping service on 28 January connecting the Baltics with the UK and the Benelux region, its first in the region.
The BALTEX service will operate on a fixed weekly rotation, calling at Riga, Latvia; Gdynia, Poland, Teesport, Tilbury, Rotterdam and Oslo.
It offers a capacity of1,160 TEU per leg and transshipment is available to Spain and Portugal via Tilbury with up to 50% lower CO2 emissions compared to road transport
Further service developments are expected in line with the integration of Viasea services into Ellerman Network, following its acquisition in November.
Norwegian shortsea line Viasea was sold by its owners ColliCare Holding to Ellerman City Liners in late 2025. Founded in 2016, Viasea operates routes including Immingham to Norway, Netherlands, Poland, and Lithuania. It also operates connecting rail services to Poland, Hungary and Romania.
