[ April 17, 2013   //   ]

Emirates SkyCargo says it has become the first carrier to implement Electronic-Air Waybill (e-AWB) shipments under the industry’s recently ratified multilateral e-AWB standard. Since 2011, the Middle Eastern carrier has signed over 120 bilateral e-AWB agreements with its customers to ensure a smooth transition from paper to electronic to the ‘Electronic Air Waybill data’ (FWB) format.

Emirates’ divisional senior vice president for cargo, Ram Menen, said: “Following the recent World Cargo Symposium held in Doha, at which the e-AWB multilateral agreement was ratified, we have received an increased interest in e-AWB adoption from our customers.” There was also heightened interest in e-freight form the wider industry, he added, saying: “We are at an important junction for the cargo industry. The future is looking bright for e-freight adoption.”
