Emirates goes for more A380s

[ December 16, 2011   //   ]

Following November’s announcement of a third daily A380 flight from 24 January 2012, Emirates is to convert a fourth daily Heathrow/Dubai flight to A380 operation from 25 March. Despite its size, the cargo carrying capacity of the A380 is lower than the Boeing 777-300ERs its replacing, so Emirates’ Heathrow capacity will drop slightly. However, a spokesman pointed out that Emirates also has three daily flights from Gatwick served by 777s and two similar services from Birmingham , “so there will be plenty of belly hold capacity at nearby airports in Southern England and the Midlands.”
