Emirates to upgrade out of Newcastle

[ February 23, 2012   //   ]

Emirates is to upgrade its daily flight from Newcastle to Dubai from a Airbus A330-200 to a Boeing 777-300ER from 1 September. It will raise cargo capacity by 22% to over 16 tonnes per flight. Popular commodities shipped from the North-East include oil rig equipment, car parts, personal effects and pharmaceuticals.

Newcastle airport chief executive Dave Laws, said: “Despite challenging economic times, the daily service to Dubai has flourished. The growth of this global brand at the airport will bring employment opportunities and increased cargo carrying capabilities. This in turn will bring economic benefit, trade and investment to the region.”
