‘End of year start’ for Ramsgate ferry

[ August 14, 2018   //   ]

Seaborne Freight plans to start services between Ramsgate and Ostend by the end of the year, the Isle of Thanet News reports. The website also cites Belgian press reports in which Ostend mayor Johan Vande Lanotte says financing of the project is complete. The service would cater for accompanied freight and offer up to six departures per day, he said, according to the report. While an earlier 1 March start-up date has been missed, this was due to “minor complications” according to Seaborne Freight shareholder Glenn Dudley. He added that the service would be operated by three vessels, one of which has been identified as the former Stena, SeaFrance and MyFerryLink vessel Nord Pas de Calais, which has been on charter in the Mediterranean.
