Europa defies the virus to open new warehouse

[ June 18, 2020   //   ]

Europa Warehouse has moved into its new £60m third party logistics site at in Corby on schedule, despite the Covid-19 crisis.

Located on a 25-acre site at Midlands Logistics Park, the ground floor of the new Corby warehouse is equivalent to seven football pitches with 715,000sq ft dedicated to logistics and 100,000 pallet spaces. It doubles Europa Warehouse’s logistics portfolio and has been constructed to a high specification, including 18 metre heights and three floors of mezzanines.

However, a substantial new contract means that the facility is already reaching capacity.

Logistics director Maria Torrent-March (pictured), commented: “I am hugely proud of the team for winning this major new contract and how everyone responded so positively in getting the facility ready.”

Europa Worldwide Group managing director, Andrew Baxter added. “We want to say a special thank you for everyone involved in pulling together to help us with this project. Despite the lockdown with all of its associated challenges every single department at Europa has worked tirelessly to open our new site. From the recruitment team hiring a brand-new team of 120, staff training, to designing and procuring IT and all of the operations. Well done to everyone for their spectacular achievements and efforts on this project.”
