Eurotunnel to sell GB Railfreight

[ October 18, 2016   //   ]

Eurotunnel Group (GET) is to sell its GB Railfreight arm to Scandinavian investment firm EQT Infrastructure II and will use the money to strengthen its core activity. GBRf, the UK’s third-largest rail operator in the UK, was acquired in 2010 for £25 and has since more than doubled its activities, with forecast revenues currently running at around £125 million.

It operates a number of container rail services between UK ports and inland destinations, as well as other services for bulk traffic.

The Group’s French rail freight activities, managed by Europorte in France, are not included in the sale.
