EV Cargo to the rescue as beer shortage looms

[ December 12, 2019   //   ]

EV Cargo subsidiaries Jigsaw, forwarder Allport Cargo Services (ACS) and haulier CM Downton are cooperating on a new contract to import and distribute 200 containers of glass bottles a month across the UK from the Al Tajir glass bottle manufacturing facility in Dubai. It will help address the current shortage of bottles in the UK.

Containers arrive into Bristol, Southampton and Felixstowe ports where ACS manages the customs clearance and transport to warehouses. Downton controls the storage at its strategically located warehouse facilities before Jigsaw manages the transport to customer sites. Jigsaw currently manages inbound bottles to UK customers including the world’s largest brewer and many of the Middle East-made products will be destined for breweries.

EV Cargo company CM Downton has meanwhile won a contract to distribute ambient food arriving into Tilbury docks from Belgian logistics firm 2XL’s consolidation centre in Zeebrugge. Produce will be destined primarily for Aldi and Lidl regional distribution centres.
