Export recovery boosts Simarco

[ March 28, 2014   //   ]

Essex-based freight form Simarco says that a recovery in UK exports has helped it to record sales figures during the last financial year. Turnover rose by just over 10% to £26.5 million. Managing director, Simon Reed, said that much of additional business had been generated in the last six months as retail, automotive and manufacturing firms all increased exports, adding: “The rapid rate at which export volumes rose during the latter half of the year contrasts with the first six months of 2013, when the emphasis was strongly on supporting and retaining clients. Given that our business is, to a degree, dependent on the health of the economy, the fact that we are seeing a definite upturn in trade suggests that the attitude of British business is more positive than this time last year, particularly among those companies selling into foreign markets.
