Farewell MacAndrews as CMA CGM creates single Containerships brand

[ January 17, 2019   //   ]

CMA CGM is to unite its Containerships and MacAndrews shortsea services as Containerships: from 1 April. It said the new strategy would increase the density of its regional coverage and unlock major synergies. Integration of local agency networks will also allow for the creation of a tailored intra-regional service, said the group.
Acquired by the CMA CGM Group in 2018, Containerships operates ships, trucks, trains and barges in the Baltic, Russia, Northern Europe, North Africa and Turkey.
MacAndrews, which joined the CMA CGM Group in 2002 and which merged with OPDR in 2018, also offers rail, road and maritime transport services, specializing in intra-European routes – mainly connecting north and central Europe with the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands and Morocco.
Guillaume Lathelize, senior vice president – short sea lines Med and North Europe, declared: “We will thus be able to offer our customers tailored end-to-end solutions and better cater to their expectations and their needs.”
