Faster from Turkey

UK freight and logistics firm Simarco said that it had won significant new business since launching services to and from Turkey in May last year, in particular its express routes that serve Bursa and Izmir direct, as well as Istanbul.

Managing Director Simon Reed said “We were keen to identify unique ways of making those runs faster and more reliable.” The Turkish services are operated from Simarco’s Bury depot and move freight overland. Two drivers are responsible for bringing individual express consignments to the UK in seven days by road alone rather than the more conventional 10 days by road and sea.

Because goods were moved by road, Simarco was able to update its clients on likely delivery times on a daily basis which they could not do with such precision if containers were shipped by ferry.
