Faster than the speed of flight?

[ April 30, 2018   //   ]

DP World has gone into partnership with the Virgin group to develop a transport system which, its proponents say, world, DP World Cargospeed could deliver freight at the speed of flight but at a cost closer to that of trucking.

A pod-like vehicle, capable of carrying freight or passengers, is propelled through a near-vacuum steel tube, with most of its air removed, faster than the speed of a jet aircraft. Next-generation magnetic levitation technology would mean that Hyperloop can achieve top speeds of up to 300 metres/second, two to three times faster than the fastest trains today.
