Fire halts Channel Islands ferry
[ February 10, 2026 // Chris Lewis ]A fire has broken out on a DFDS freight ro ro vessel operating between Portsmouth and Jersey. The blaze on the Caesarea Trader was reported at 15.45 on Monday 9 February when the vessel was off the Isle of Wight. The vessel is due to be towed to Portsmouth for assessment. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said that the situation on board the vessel was reported as stable by 22.00 on Monday, with all 24 persons on board accounted for and well. The Caesarea Trader – formerly the Commodore Goodwill – has a freight capacity of about 80 trailers.
