First LNG ship for CMA CGM in West Africa

CMA CGM has operated its first LNG-powered containership into West Africa. The CMA CGM Scandola is due to reach the new Lekki Deep Sea Port in Nigeria on Sunday, 28 January but before reaching there the vessel will first call at Tema, Ghana, on 23 January where she will be the operator’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered containership to call a port in West Africa. The vessel is CMA CGM’s first biomethane and e-methane ready vessel an will operate on the West Africa Express (WAX) service connecting the region to China, South-East Asia and India.

She will continue on to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. At 15,000-TEU, the containership also ranks amongst the largest vessels to call in West Africa.
