Former TNT Post drops deliveries

[ May 11, 2015   //   ]

Whistl – the TNT Post are of the former express operator – has suspended its delivery services in London, Liverpool and Manchester and is consulting with 2,000 workers on redundancy after it lost the backing of investment partner LDC. Whistl will continue to provide a service, but will use Royal Mail for deliveries. According to the company’s website, Whistl processes over 26% of all the UK’s mail and collects, sort, sends and transports nearly 4 billion items of addressed mail, packets and parcels
Last month, LDC, part of Lloyds Banking Group subsidiary LDC decided last month not to continue investing in Whistl because of uncertainty in the UK postal market and future regulation.
The new privatised Royal Mail, whose shares jumped on the news of its competitor’s difficulties, said that it would accept the former Whistl volumes into its delivery network.
