Fourth ship for Dunkerque-Rosslare route

[ April 19, 2021   //   ]

DFDS’s Ark Dania made its first call at the port of Dunkerque-Port on 9 April, en route from Rosslare in Ireland. The ro ro vessel, which has a capacity of 190 freight units, 12 cabins and space for 400 trade cars, will call at Dunkerque every Friday and Tuesday and will help develop the unaccompanied trailer trade.

It is the fourth vessel to be deployed on the service since its launch on 2 January 2 and allows calls to be stepped up to eight weekly arrivals and departures.

The route provides carriers and shippers with a direct, document-free journey for lorries between the Republic of Ireland and the European Union, implying less waiting times as well as the possibility of avoiding the customs procedures which now apply to transport via the British landbridge.

Between the launch of the service and the beginning of March the service carried 10,000 freight units.
