Freight firms sign wildlife pledge

Dubai-owned global port operator DP World agreed to tackle illegal wildlife trade at a meeting in London in mid-December at a meeting of the United for Wildlife International Taskforce on the Transportation of Illegal Wildlife. The declaration and commitments signed at the meeting cover information sharing and detection and practical measures to stop the transportation of illegal wildlife. Other Taskforce members include the World Customs Organisation (WCO) the International Air Transport Association, the International Maritime Organisation, Emirates Airlines, Kenya Airways, Maersk Line, Cosco and DHL.
