Freightliner loco pays tribute to late colleagues
[ October 23, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]Freightliner named its locomotive 66605 ‘Tribute’ in memory of late colleagues in the multimodal rail operator.
The ceremony took place on 22 October at Crewe Vehicle Maintenance Facility with Karen Schofield, Chaplain from Railway Mission leading a Roll of Honour during the service, followed by a remembrance prayer.
An online memorial book has also been created to help to remember the 26 Freightliner colleagues who have passed in the last five years.
The naming of also coincided with the official opening of the Freightliner Crewe Memorial Garden which was built by Freightliner Crewe colleagues.
Freightliner also presented a presented to mental health charity MIND.
Dave Penney, managing director – heavy haul and rail services said, “The memorial garden at Crewe will provide a space for people to visit and remember colleagues who are no longer with us.”
