From Russia via Cuxhaven

Norwegian wheeled cargo shipping company UECC has added a Cuxhaven call in its Baltic Service from St Petersburg in Russia and Hanko, Finland with onward connections to Southampton in the UK as well as Continental ports such as Zeebrugge.

The weekly service is operated by the two LNG-fuelled  ro ro carriers Auto Energy and its sister Auto Eco. The  vessels are powered by a dual-fuel engine that runs on both LNG (liquid natural gas) and diesel, among the  first of their kind.

The vessels can load a variety of rollable goods on their ten decks including, for example 4,000 cars while the ramps that can take loads of up to 160 tonnes.

As well as new cars the service can also handle steel, forest products, machinery and transport equipment as well as project cargo on MAFI trailers with terminal operator Cuxport handling unloading and loading.
