Maritime renews GB Railfreight contract, adds first eHGV for Coca-Cola

[ April 30, 2026   //   ]

GB Railfreight and Maritime Transport have agreed a new multi-year contract to transport freight across the UK. It covers movements from key deep-sea ports including DP World London Gateway, Felixstowe and Tilbury to Maritime’s inland terminals. It continues a long-term relationship between GB Railfreight and Maritime and will help take thousands of lorry journeys off the UK’s roads each year.

Maritime Transport has meanwhile introduced the first fully electric heavy goods vehicle (eHGV) into and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP)’s fleet.

The two companies worked together to optimise deliveries and routes, providing the proof of concept that eHGVs can transport soft drink payloads.

The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 entered service in January and now operates on dedicated delivery routes from CCEP’s manufacturing site in Wakefield running five days a week on multi-drop deliveries

Since entering service, it has travelled more than 7,000 miles, saving an estimated 12.43 tonnes of CO2e compared to equivalent diesel journeys[1]. Charging takes place at Maritime’s transport depot in Wakefield, where high-powered infrastructure has already been installed.
