[ March 20, 2020   //   ]

Freight forwarder GEODIS is operating air charter services to move urgent shipments during the COVID-19 crisis along with rail alternatives to and from China.

Weekly round trip flights have been established between Frankfurt and Shanghai, along with flights from Hong Kong to Europe. The schedule will remain in place throughout March when extension will be considered.

Rail services are also being offered from major cities in China. Two options are scheduled from Xi’an and Chongqing to Hamburg and Duisburg.  Standard transit time is 18 days, with an express 12-day option from  Xi’an to Hamburg.  Return services are also available.

Immediately after the US authorities closed its borders to visitors from Europe geodis also established a return air charter program linking Amsterdam and Chicago with four flights a week. The first flight from Amsterdam will be on 21 March.
