Geodis ready for Asian road boom

[ January 9, 2020   //   ]

Geodis says it will further expand its time-definite Road Network (GRN) services in Asia Pacific during 2020.

The service now offers scheduled departures along the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok axis and will now be extended throughout the Southeast Asian landmass.

Trade cooperation within the ASEAN bloc continues to strengthen and e-commerce activity is set to rise dramatically, says the forwarder and regional cross-border road transport is expected to grow at around 15% a year to 2023.

Sub-regional managing director, ASEAN, Rene Bach-Larsen, says: “As the region’s road infrastructure continues to improve beyond the Singapore-KL-Bangkok spine, scheduled road transits will become an increasingly attractive option, being faster than sea and cheaper than air. ”Geodis says that there is a particular gap in the market for 30 to 1000kg payload shipments and  GRN will offer a simplified, door-to-door tariff structure, backed up by electronic tracking services.

Geodis also offers a customs control tower solution, assisting with electronic lodging of declarations in advance to avoid delays.
