Germans rapped over port security

The European Commission has referred Germany to the EU Court of Justice for failing to fully apply Directive 2005/65/EC on enhancing port security in North Rhine-Westphalia. The German authorities have launched an action plan to fully implement the directive, but the draft amendment of the law on port security has not yet been adopted by the North Rhine-Westphalian Parliament. The region includes the major inland river ports such as Duisburg.
