Grangemouth gets heavy with Collett

[ November 25, 2013   //   ]

Forth Ports has signed a two-year partnership with heavy transport specialist Collett & Sons to launch a Heavy Lift and Port facility at the Port of Grangemouth. The three-acre site will be Collett’s Scottish headquarters and will act as a central hub in Scotland for importing wind turbine components. It will have a 110-tonne gantry crane along with other heavy duty handling equipment, which will all be fully operational by January 2014. It will also have its own quayside facility as well as the full use of the port’s facilities and will be able to discharge vessels and offer stevedoring, cranes, lifting, handling, storage, maintenance and transport of the turbines.

The transport firm’s managing director, David Collett, said: “There’s nowhere better than Grangemouth. Its strategic location allows us to serve all of our customers who need specialist lifting, handling and transport services right across Scotland from quay to site.”
