Heavy metal in Liverpool

[ June 9, 2016   //   ]

Peel Ports has formally opened what it describes as the UK’s first fully-automated steel terminal at the Port of Liverpool and has confirmed plans for a similar development at Sheerness in South-east England.

The a £9m investment at Liverpool’s Canada dock – with the support of Denholm Handling – will provide both increased capacity and improved handling facilities at the existing terminal. Liverpool is the closest deep sea port to the West Midlands, where half the UK’s steel is consumed.

The terminal features a fully automated warehouse and interactive customer web portal, which mean customers will have round-the-clock instant access to the ordering process.
