HHLA sets up €1 million Ukraine aid fund

[ March 25, 2022   //   ]

German terminal operator Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA) has set up a €1m aid fund to help people affected by the Ukraine crisis.

It will provide humanitarian and medical assistance to people affected by the war, with a specific focus in the region around Odessa port where HHLA operates a container terminal.

The aid fund complements a staff donation that was set up by the Executive Board at the request of HHLA’s staff and which has collected over € 60,000 so far.

A few days after the beginning of the war, around 120 family members of Ukrainian HHLA employees who had decided to flee the country were brought to Hamburg, the company’s headquarters where they were quickly accommodated by HHLA employees or their friends and neighbours. In total, HHLA is currently taking care of more than 250 refugees.
