It just gets worse and worse for United

[ April 26, 2017   //   ]

The bad publicity that has dogged US airline United over the past few weeks has now spread to the cargo arm. Only weeks after an incident in which pictures of Dr David Dao being forcibly removed from an overbooked flight went viral, the carrier is now having to investigate the in-flight death of another of its passengers – in this case a giant rabbit that was en route from London Heathrow to Chicago’s O’Hare airport.

Simon, a 90cm long continental giant rabbit was found dead in the cargo hold when the flight arrived. He was due to be delivered to a new celebrity owner.

According to US Department of Transportation figures, United has racked up 14 of the 35 deaths of animals on US airlines since 2015.

According to report in the Sun newspaper, Simon had had a vet’s check-up three hours before the flight and was perfectly fit.
