KN keeps tabs on ship delays
[ January 21, 2022 // Chris ]Kuehne+Nagel is launching a disruption indicator to measure the efficiency of the world container lines. The Seaexplorer indicator shows the cumulative waiting time in days in the ports of Prince Rupert, Vancouver/Seattle, Oakland, Los Angeles/Long Beach, New York, Savannah, Hong Kong, Shanghai/Ningbo and Rotterdam/Antwerp. For example, one vessel with 10,000teu capacity waiting 12 days to enter a port equals 120,000teu. Currently, the indicator reflects a waiting time and scale of 11.6 million teu days compared with under a million under normal circumstances. At present, roughly 80% of the disruption is associated with North American ports.
