Kuehne+Nagel’s gone to Iceland

Kuehne+Nagel has opened its first independent Iceland office and warehouse in Hafnafjördur harbour. A team of 13 will provide sea and air logistics and customs solutions.

Kuehne+Nagel will offer LCL and FCL seafreight from Denmark, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands, while the export market will focus mainly on reefer containers for the fishing industry. It will also offer airfreight connections to world markets through its perishable gateways in London, Amsterdam, and Liege with a focus on farmed fish.

Cluster Manager for Sweden and Iceland, Helgi Ingólfsson, said: “Iceland is a high-potential market, and we are committed to supporting customers in Iceland reach their growth potential as they can benefit from our expertise in navigating and planning their supply chains. While we have had a presence in Iceland for decades, this is the first time we have a fully independent operation, and I am proud to announce the opening today, adding to the global network of Kuehne+Nagel.”

Managing Director for Iceland, Valdimar Óskarsson,  added: “Having been active in the Icelandic market for many years, we are happy to join the Kuehne+Nagel family. Together with my team of industry experts within sea and air logistics, and customs, we look forward to contributing to Iceland’s import and export sector.”

Iceland’s export industries have seen significant growth with a surging tourism sector, contributing to a higher demand for general cargo imports whole the fish farming industry, which produced 54,800 tonnes of fish in 2024, is projected to further increase in the coming years.
