Level crossing smash hits Felixstowe rail traffic

[ March 16, 2018   //   ]

Container train services to and from Felixstowe are being disrupted after a Freightliner service from Birch Coppice near Birmingham hit a car at a level crossing on the branch to the port on 14 March. A Police spokesman said that the car driver sustained “life-changing injuries” in the accident.

No one else was hurt in the incident.

The train was eventually moved at slow speed to Felixstowe where it arrived about 5 ¼ hours late. Trains bound for the report were reported to be backed up across the rail network.
