Libyan ports unfrozen

[ September 1, 2011   //   ]

The assets of six ports could be freed as early as 1 September as part of a plan by the Council of the European Union to lift sanctions against Libya, according to a report by Europolitics. They would form part of a plan by the EU to unfreeze the assets of nearly 30 economic entities and would amount to several billion euros.

Meanwhile, Maersk Line said it planned to resume limited Libyan services on 8 September, to Benghazi only. Services to Misrata and Khoms might resume when and if it was safe to do so, the line added.
