Logistics UK welcomes new aviation and shipping minister
[ September 26, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]Logistics UK has welcomed the appointment of Keir Mather MP as Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation with responsibility for freight and borders.
The group’s acting chief executive Kevin Green is now urging the new Minister to seize the opportunity to drive growth through an ambitious freight and logistics plan, saying: “Appointing Keir Mather MP as Minister with specific responsibility for freight and borders shows the government recognises the strategic importance of the logistics sector and is listening to industry’s call for ministerial representation.
“The productivity of the economy and prosperity of the logistics sector are completely intertwined so it is now crucial that the Minister works with departments across Whitehall to implement an ambitious plan for freight and logistics.
“Logistics UK has been calling for cross-departmental, dedicated logistics and supply chain minister for some time. If this government is serious about changing the country’s economic fortunes, our members believe it is imperative that the new Minister prioritises policies that will drive growth across the whole economy by delivering what our sector, and country as a whole, needs on infrastructure, decarbonisation, trade and skills.”
