Maersk starts India-Bangladesh barge link

[ July 27, 2022   //   ]

Maersk has operated its first barge between India and Bangladesh. A total of 50 containers for Coca-Cola Bangladesh Beverages moved from Kolkata to a river port near Dhaka under the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route. The Danish-owned line says that cargo movement on inland waterways or rivers is much more reliable, especially in monsoons, when the turbulent weather can cause delays to ocean movements. It also addresses the bottleneck at the land border between the two countries. The Protocol Route also extends to landlocked Bhutan.
