Maersk offers rail-sea Russia alternative

[ May 17, 2022   //   ]

Maersk has introduced a new rail-sea service between Asia and Europe through Central Asia as an alternative to the route via Russia. Departing from various locations in China, and crossing the border between China and Kazakhstan at Khorgos, containers arrive by rail on a barge at Aktau and shipped to Baku in Azerbaijan. From there containers are railed to APM Terminals Poti, Georgia, where they are being loaded on a feeder vessel to Constanta, Romania. The cargo is then railed to destinations across Europe.
