Maersk opens first Senegal site
[ April 23, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]Maersk has inaugurated its first integrated logistics hub in Senegal, a 10,000sq m facility between the Port of Dakar and Dakar’s industrial area. It offers 5,100sq m of indoor storage with 7,036 pallet positions and 500sq m of outdoor storage. It will handle commodities including fast-moving consumer goods, retail merchandise, lifestyle products, and technology items, along with palletization, order processing and management, distribution, labelling, packaging, and pallet customization. The warehouse operates on 60% solar energy and utilises electric material handling equipment. Safety features include forklift safety systems with rear-view cameras and pedestrian sensors, extensive firefighting infrastructure, and 24/7 security with CCTV surveillance.
