Maersk out of Iran

[ October 9, 2012   //   ]

Maersk Line has ceased port calls in Iran due to sanctions against the Middle Eastern country, Reuters reported. Latterly, the Danish-owned line had reduced its service to calls at the small northern port of Bushehr, following the earlier blacklisting by the US of the country’s main port operator, Tidewater. However, the line halted loading cargo inbound cargo on 30 September and outbound cargo on 24 September. Maersk Line said it would maintain a dormant business entity in Iran and would resume business if sanctions were lifted.
