Maersk to link Cuba with Cork and Tilbury

[ April 25, 2016   //   ]

Maersk Line has added the Cuban port of Mariel, near Havana to its CRX service which serves Cork, Tilbury and north-west Europe, following the lifting of international sanctions against the Caribbean country. The service, which already serves other Latin American ports, including Big Creek, Puerto Moin and Manzanillo, will be the first ever direct connection between Cuba and Ireland.

There is also a weekly feeder service to Santiago de Cuba. The port of Mariel has benefited from a  modernisation scheme and the creation of the Special Economic Zone.
