Many happy returns for Irish train service

[ November 6, 2020   //   ]

Irish logistics company IWT (Irish Warehousing and Transport) celebrated its 3,000th container train with railway officials at Dublin Port in late October. IWT operates regular services from Dublin Port to Ballina on the west coast, the only regular container rail service on the island of Ireland. Irish Rail chief executive Jim Meade (right, main picture) is seen with IWT director Colin Dunne and with fellow director Derek D’arcy IWT (below).

The train service has taken 120,000 trucks off the roads and reduced fossil fuel emissions by 75%.
