Maritime industry helps Merseyside to thrive

The report found that the maritime sector clustered around the Mersey boosts business turnover in the Liverpool City Region by £2.0 billion, according to a new report commissioned by Mersey Maritime. The report, The Economic Contribution of the Maritime Sector in the Liverpool City Region which was produced in conjunction with Maritime UK and the Centre for Economics and Business Research also found that output across the sector had brown by 118% since 2010. It also produced  7,899 jobs in the city region in 2017.

In September, Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram announced a £20m loan fund for local businesses to invest in creating jobs and boosting productivity, and £15m to support SMEs in the event of a No Deal Exit from the European Union.
