Maritime opens Gateway to East Midlands

Maritime Transport has added a new rail service between DP World London Gateway and its terminal at East Midlands Gateway.

Its tenth rail service to date runs five days a week from Monday to Friday with a weekly capacity of up to 320 containers. There are already twice-daily services between East Midlands Gateway and Felixstowe hauled by DB Cargo UK and Freightliner, and one daily to Southampton hauled by GB Railfreight.

Earlier Maritime announced its acquisition of Wincanton Container Logistics and all employees and assets have been transferred to Maritime who will continue to work with Wincanton supporting a number of customers. The combined business has created a road fleet of 2,000 Maritime vehicles with 3,000 employees and 37 transport and container depots across the UK.
