Maritime trucks to test electronic tolls

[ April 8, 2021   //   ]

Felixstowe-based intermodal operator Maritime Transport is to be the first business to trial the M6toll’s new electronic payment system. Its trucks will be the first to pay through Automatic Number Plate Recognition on the UK’s only tolled motorway, which bypasses a congested section of the M6 in the West Midlands.

Maritime Transport is also celebrating the first anniversary of its rail freight interchange at East Midlands Gateway.

Located within SEGRO’s 700-acre development adjacent to East Midlands Airport, the 17-acre open-access terminal has direct access to all major UK ports.

It now operates six daily services and plans are in hand to add more services throughout 2021.
