Menzies DHL workers to walk out

[ November 18, 2013   //   ]

The Unite trade union, has announced a 48 hour strike from 04:00 21 November by its 101 members employed by Menzies World Cargo, who work at the DHL facility at Heathrow. The dispute is over pay, with Menzies staff working on the DHL contract at Heathrow saying they earn up to 22% less than other workers at Menzies World Cargo for a very similar job.

Unite says that Menzies has already used the fact that other Heathrow workers including Unite members on the DHL contract earn on average between 15-22% less to justify a two-year pay freeze during wage negotiations in June. This sparked demands by workers on the DHL contract for the pay gap to be closed.
