Minister opens Lowestoft energy hub
[ January 24, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero Ed Miliband opened ABP’s new Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF) on 23 January.
The £35 million project will serve for the offshore wind industry and includes expanded quay space and deep-water berthing, each equipped with bunkering, water and electric connections. They will support operations and maintenance (O&M) activities and construction for the offshore energy industry.
The LEEF development is part of ABP’s £1 billion investment in its ports, a large part of which is infrastructure for the green energy transition. This includes plans in South Wales to invest over £500 million to repurpose the port of Port Talbot to host manufacturing, installation, and supply chain activity for the Floating Offshore Wind (FLOW) sector and the Immingham Green Energy Terminal, to unlock billions of pounds in investment in green hydrogen, ammonia, and carbon capture and storage infrastructure.
